Subject: Marriage Vote Tomorrow. Spread the Word!
Dear Chris,

The House of Representatives is voting on the Marriage Protection Amendment (formerly the Federal Marriage Amendment) tomorrow. We are working hard to achieve a strong, bipartisan vote and need your help to get this result.

Here are two things you can do right now:

1) Spread the word. Take a look at the list of undecided Representatives below this message.  Do you have friends in those states? If you know someone in the city or even the state, simply click here to tell them, or forward them this message and urge them to:

  • Send a message to their Representative by clicking here:
    http://tinyurl.com/59ztf
  • Call their Representative at 202-225-3121 and say this: "I urge you to vote NO on the Marriage Protection Amendment. It's not a priority and discrimination doesn't belong in the Constitution." Then ask, "How will the Representative vote on the Marriage Protection Amendment?"
  • Click here to tell us what they said or just send an e-mail to field@hrc.org to tell us how they say they will vote. We need to know, it's urgent!

2) Stop the ultra-conservatives for good! The reason we're fighting this battle is because Congress and the President are emboldened by their power to dictate their version of morality. Over the next month, your gift of $50, $100, $250 or more will strengthen HRC's broad-based political action strategies to mobilize GLBT and fair-minded voters in battleground states and to elect legislators who stand for equality. Thank you for all you do. We've come too far to let the extremists win such a critical vote in the House of Representatives. We need to stop this discussion about amending the Constitution to deny our civil rights NOW.  With your help, we will.

Many thanks,

P.S.  By the way, your Representative, John Dingell, has already decided to vote NO on this discriminatory Amendment (To send a handwritten thank you letter - click here to look up the address).
